Your first pizza oven: a practical buying checklist

Updated October 3, 2026 · Manufacturer-based guide; not a hands-on review.

1. A compatible oven and location

Select the model for your permitted cooking location. Measure the support surface and check the manual’s required clearances. Do not move an outdoor gas oven inside to avoid bad weather.

2. A compatible pizza peel

A peel helps move pizza into and out of an oven. Check its size against the model’s opening and cooking surface. A large peel is not automatically a better fit.

3. The correct power or fuel setup

Check the exact Canadian configuration and what comes in the box. Confirm fuel compatibility for gas and the specified electrical supply for electric models. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

4. A realistic total budget

Include any required accessories, fuel, delivery and tax. Compare the final checkout total. Keep optional accessories separate from the things you need to operate the oven.

5. A clear first-use plan

Read the manual before switching anything on. Follow setup, initial-use, cooling and storage instructions. Use real manufacturer guidance rather than treating an illustrative video as a safety tutorial.
